This week my family was out collecting pine resin. One of my favorite remedies for my little ones is our ponderosa pine salve. Did you know?.... Pine sap contains antiseptic and antibacterial properties that have been used by humans all over the world for over 2,000 years? Pine sap is the tree's natural defense system protecting it from infection and acting like a bandage to seal the tree's wound, similar to how blood scabs over a human wound. These antiseptic and antibacterial properties also work on our skin, another amazing God given remedy waiting in the woods for us. This beautiful, amber colored sap can be used directly on skin if you're ever lost in the mountains needing an emergency cure all, or made into a salve or balm to carry with you or keep in your medicine cabinet. In our house, we use this salve to heal cuts, scraps, burns and skin irritations. We also take advantage of pine resins drawing properties by rubbing it on our chests to relieve congestion.
